Brand identity
Brand identity design
Your logo is not your brand identity. Your identity is the whole visual language your buyer meets, and right now, in most categories, it looks exactly like the five competitors next to you.
On this page
Brand identity design is the distinguishable visual language a competitor literally cannot wear: your logotype, colour, type, motion, and assets, cohering into one system. The test is simple. Take the logo off. If a buyer still knows it is you, you have an identity. If they cannot, you have decoration that looks like everyone else. That single test, identifiable with the logo removed, is one of the three inputs of your Memorability Score. Identity follows brand strategy, and it is part of the full brand build. Safe is a template, and a template is invisible. If it doesn't get remembered, it doesn't ship.
- A logo is a mark. A brand identity is a language that still reads as you with the logo removed.
- Identity follows strategy. Without it, you get nicer sameness.
- Standalone identity packages typically run S$8,000 to S$25,000. We build identity inside a full brand build, entered via the free Brand Clarity Call.
- Distinctiveness is one of three Memorability Score inputs, measured before and after.
What is brand identity design?
Brand identity design is the system of everything your brand looks and moves like: the logotype, the colour, the type, the motion, and the assets that carry it across every place a buyer meets you. Not one logo. A language.
Most people treat identity as decoration you bolt on at the end. It is the opposite. A real identity is the visible half of a decision you already made in brand strategy: the one true thing only you can own. Identity is how that decision becomes something a buyer can see in half a second and recognise again a week later.
Here is the difference that matters. A logo is a mark. An identity is a system that stays recognisable even when the logo is not in the frame, on a story, in a product screen, on a sign across a car park. That is memorability built into form, and it is the point of the whole exercise.
Who needs brand identity design?
You do not need a new identity because your current one is a few years old. You need one when you have looked at your brand next to your competitors and could not pick yourself out with the logo covered.
Three signs it is you.
You have hit the sameness wound. Same palette, same rounded font, same stock imagery, same three adjectives as every other company in your category. You are one of the crowd and you know it.
You are recognised, not recalled. People see your name and nod, then forget you the moment they scroll on, or tell you that you remind them of a competitor. Your work is good. Your visual language is not doing any lifting.
You want to look different but need it to be a calculated move. You are ready to stand out, you just do not want it to be reckless. You want a system backed by proof, not a designer’s mood board.
If you want an identity that keeps you feeling safe, we are the wrong studio. Safe is the most expensive look a brand can buy, because safe is a template, and a template is invisible.
What you get in a brand identity system
Not a logo and a colour swatch. One coherent language, built so every part reinforces the same memory.
Logotype and marks. The primary logo, the variants, and the marks that work when the full logo will not fit. Built to be legible small and recognisable fast.
A colour system. Not one brand colour, a system with a role for each colour, so your brand is identifiable by palette alone before a single word is read.
A type system. The typefaces and the rules for how they set, so your words look like your words wherever they land.
Motion. How the identity moves, in transitions, in video, in product. Motion is where most identities go quiet and generic. It is one of the fastest ways to be distinguishable, so we treat it as a first-class part of the system, not an afterthought.
An asset system. The photography direction, illustration, iconography, and templates your team uses every day, so the brand holds together long after launch.
Guidelines and governance. The rules that keep all of it intact as you grow, so the identity compounds instead of drifting back into sameness the first time someone new touches it.
The whole thing is engineered around one test: distinctiveness. Take the logo off and see whether a buyer still knows it is you. That is the deliverable. Everything else serves it.

How brand identity design works
It is one process with clear parts, not a menu of decorations.
First, strategy comes before pixels. Identity design starts from the position and the one true thing you own, decided in brand strategy. If that is not settled, we settle it first. An identity built on a vague strategy is just a nicer way to look like everyone else.
Second, we design the distinguishable language. Logotype, colour, type, motion, and assets, developed together so they cohere into one system rather than five disconnected choices. We design against your category, not in a vacuum, so the result is something your named competitors cannot wear.
Third, we test distinctiveness. We take the logo off and check whether the identity still reads as you, because identifiable with the logo removed is a direct input of your Memorability Score. If it fails that test, it is not finished.
Fourth, we systematise and hand over governance. Guidelines, templates, and the rules that keep the language intact as your team, your site, and your product grow. This is where the identity ships into the real world, most often through web design and product.
Where brand identity sits in the system, and what it costs
Brand identity is one line of the full brand build. It follows brand strategy and ships through web design. On its own it answers “how do we look distinguishable”; inside the full system it answers “how do we stay memorable as we grow”. Here is how we work, from a free look to a full build. You start wherever you are.

How will you know it worked?
This is the question the category avoids, so we built our proof around it.
The first test is distinctiveness. We take the logo off your identity and check whether a buyer still knows it is you. That is not a taste opinion, it is one of the three inputs of the Memorability Score, alongside recall against your look-alike competitors and whether a stranger can say what you do after five seconds.
The second is the proof in the work itself. Rather than lean on a named test, we point you at brands we have shipped and let you judge whether they stand out next to the AI-average lineup: see our case studies. We would rather show you the work than promise you a number we do not control.
FAQ
What is the difference between a logo and a brand identity? A logo is one mark. A brand identity is the whole visual language, logotype, colour, type, motion, and assets, built so the brand stays recognisable even with the logo removed. A logo is a part. The identity is the system.
What is the difference between brand strategy and brand identity? Brand strategy decides who you are and the one thing only you can own. Brand identity makes that decision visible and distinguishable. Strategy is the reason; identity is the form. We do strategy first, always, because an identity built on a vague strategy just looks like everyone else with better kerning.
How much does brand identity design cost in Singapore? A standalone identity package typically runs S$8,000 to S$25,000 on the open market (source: marketingagency.sg, Stridec, Vantage Branding, 2026). We build identity inside a full brand build, entered through the free Brand Clarity Call and priced within our $5,000 ceiling, where it is anchored to strategy and measured for memorability rather than sold on its own.
Can you design an identity without doing strategy first? No. Identity without strategy is decoration, and decoration is the fastest way back into sameness. If your strategy is settled, we build on it. If it is not, we settle it first.
How do you measure whether an identity is actually distinctive? We take the logo off and test whether a buyer still knows it is you. Identifiable with the logo removed is one of the three inputs of your Memorability Score, so distinctiveness is a number you can track, not a feeling.
