Global — Branding cost

How much does branding cost in 2026?

Every branding page will quote you a number. Almost none will tell you what that number actually buys, or whether it makes anyone remember you afterward.

On this page

Branding costs anywhere from about $500 for a freelancer logo package to $150,000 or more for a full enterprise rebrand. Most small businesses land between $5,000 and $25,000 for a complete brand identity in 2026. Scope, not company size, moves the number most.

Key takeaways
  • Branding runs from about $500 (freelancer logo) to $150,000+ (enterprise rebrand). Most small businesses spend $5,000 to $25,000 for a full identity.
  • Provider type moves the price more than company size. A freelancer and a full-service agency can be quoting the same brief five times apart.
  • A DIY tool like Canva or Looka is the cheapest option and the fastest way to look like every other business that used the same template.
  • In Singapore, logo work runs S$200 to S$8,000 and a full brand identity runs S$8,000 to S$40,000, roughly the same shape as the global market, just in SGD.

What drives branding cost?

The reason two branding quotes can differ by five times is that “branding” is not one thing. The price tracks a handful of real factors, and once you can see them, you can read any quote you are handed.

Scope is the biggest lever. A logo alone costs less than a logo plus brand strategy plus guidelines, because strategy is the thinking that has to happen before anyone opens a design tool. Skip the thinking and you pay less, but you are also skipping the part that makes the output yours instead of generic.

Who builds it matters as much as what you build. A freelancer working solo, a boutique studio with a small team, and a full-service agency with account managers and specialists are all pricing in different overhead, not just different talent.

Company stage changes the number too. A solo founder needs a name, a logo, and enough identity to launch. A growth-stage company rebranding across five product lines, a website, and a sales deck is buying a much bigger rollout, not just a prettier version of the same thing.

Then there is the factor no quote puts a line item on. Direction. The thinking that decides whether your brand looks like the other nine in your category or like the one a buyer actually remembers. Every quote in the market prices the deliverables: the logo file, the guideline pages, the hours. None of them price whether the finished brand is distinct enough to be recalled, which is the only part of the spend that actually pays you back. AI tools have made the deliverables cheap for everyone. They have not made direction cheap, because direction is the one thing AI cannot generate for you. That is the part we sell.

How much does branding cost by provider?

Here is the honest range, by who is doing the work. These are market bands for 2026, not our prices.

ProviderTypical range (USD)What it usually gets you
DIY tool or AI generator (Canva, Looka, Tailor Brands)$0 to $500A template logo and preset colors in minutes, no strategy behind it
Freelancer$500 to $5,000A logo and basic identity, one person, faster turnaround
Boutique or small agency$5,000 to $25,000Strategy plus identity, a small team, a custom process
Full-service or enterprise agency$25,000 to $150,000 or moreFull brand strategy, identity, guidelines, and rollout across teams

Read those as bands, not price tags. Where you land inside a band tracks how much strategy is priced in before anyone touches a design tool. A $5,000 project and a $25,000 project can produce the same file types. What separates them is how much thinking went into deciding what those files should say, and thinking is the part that keeps you out of the sea of sameness every AI-slop brand ends up in.

How much does branding cost by deliverable?

The other honest way to price it is by what you are actually buying, since “branding” bundles several separate jobs.

DeliverableTypical range (USD)Driven by
Logo only$300 to $5,000Custom design vs template, revisions, whether you own the source files
Brand strategy (positioning, messaging)$2,000 to $150,000 or moreFreelancer ($2,000 to $15,000) vs agency ($15,000 to $150,000+)
Brand guidelines or style guide$500 to $25,000A freelancer rule sheet vs an agency’s 10 to 50 page brand book
Full brand identity (logo, strategy, guidelines)$5,000 to $75,000Company size, scope, and whether you are starting fresh or rebranding
Full rebrand (existing brand, website included)$15,000 to $500,000 or moreCompany size, and whether website and rollout are included

Two things worth noticing in that table. First, brand strategy alone can cost more than a full agency identity package, because strategy is where a senior person’s thinking gets priced, not junior production hours. Second, a rebrand almost never costs the same as building from scratch, because a rebrand is also research into what to keep, what to kill, and how to move an existing audience without losing them. If you are weighing whether to rebrand what you have or start clean, that decision belongs in strategy, not in the price alone. For the deeper version of that comparison, see our page on branding agency vs freelancer.

The DIY tool trap

Canva, Looka, and Tailor Brands are the cheapest line in every table above, and for a narrow use case, that is fine. If you need a placeholder logo to open a bank account this week, use one and move on.

Here is the trap. These tools work from a shared library of templates, layouts, and AI-generated marks trained on the same visual patterns as every other user’s output. You are not buying a brand. You are buying a template that thousands of other businesses are also assembling from the same pieces, so the logo that felt fast and clever in the editor looks like a hundred other logos in your category within a year. Cheap and generic are not two different risks. They are the same risk wearing different prices.

This is the wider AI-slop problem, not a Canva problem specifically. Everyone is using the same AI tools now, trained on the same data, defaulting to the same safe choices. Safe is a template, and a template is invisible. The tools are not the enemy. Using them with no direction of your own is. See the full comparison on Canva vs hiring a designer, and if you want to keep using your AI tools but stop getting their default output, that is exactly what design.empty and the AI Branding Playbook are built to fix, both free.

Two Singapore-specific patterns worth knowing. Logo shops here compete hard on price at the bottom of the range, so S$200 to S$2,000 freelancer logos are common and mostly template-adjacent, similar to the global DIY tier above. And the local market rarely separates strategy from identity in its pricing, agencies tend to bundle both, which is why the identity and strategy bands overlap more here than in the US breakdown. For the full local pricing walkthrough, see logo design Singapore and branding agency Singapore. If your budget is really about the website rather than the brand behind it, that is a separate number, covered on web design cost Singapore. A website redesign and an ecommerce web design agency are different jobs again.

The Brand Clarity Call is free while we onboard our first founders, normally $299, and so is everything above it. The ceiling on anything we build is $5,000. Above that, the honest answer is you do not need us, you need an enterprise-scale agency, and the table earlier in this page tells you what that costs.

Here is the belief behind the whole ladder. Safe is a template, and a template is invisible. Every AI tool on the market defaults to safe, because safe is the average of everything it was trained on. The thing that makes a brand yours instead of the AI-average lineup’s is direction, and direction is the one input AI cannot generate for itself. That is what we sell, at every price point on this table, starting at free. We give your AI tools the design direction to build a brand that is unmistakably yours, not another AI template.

The proof is in the work, not a promise: see how direction shows up in our case studies. See exactly how we build it at each tier, or if brand strategy specifically is what you are pricing, go straight to our brand strategy agency page.

How do you know which price is right for you?

Match the spend to what you are actually solving, not to what feels responsible.

If you are launching and just need to look real fast, the DIY or freelancer tier is a reasonable, honest choice. Take it, and revisit branding once you have traction worth protecting.

If you have a working brand that buyers still forget, price-shop, or confuse with a competitor, more logo polish will not fix it. That is a direction problem, and it sits in the strategy row of the deliverable table, not the logo row.

If you are rebranding an existing, revenue-generating business, budget for research and change management, not just new files. The rebrand rows above run wider than the from-scratch rows for exactly this reason.

If you want to spend the least amount possible and are comfortable being one of several look-alikes in your category, the cheapest option in every table above will get you there. We are not the right studio for that, and we would rather tell you now than after you have paid us.

Why memorability? Buyers meet more look-alike brands than ever and remember fewer of them. The one they recall first is the one they buy, so the return on branding is whether you get remembered, not whether the files looked expensive.

FAQ

How much should a small business spend on branding?

Plan for $5,000 to $25,000 for a complete brand identity in 2026, including a logo, basic guidelines, and some strategy work (consolidated branding pricing guides, 2026). A freelancer-led project can come in under $5,000. The real question is whether the cheaper version leaves you looking like every competitor who bought the same tier, because that cost never shows up on the invoice.

Why is branding so expensive?

It usually is not the design files. Price tracks how much strategy goes in before anyone opens a design tool, how experienced the team is, and whether you are building from scratch or managing a rebrand across an existing audience. You are paying for the thinking that makes the output distinct, not just the pixels.

Is it worth paying for branding instead of using a free tool?

It depends on what you need. If a working logo is genuinely all you need right now, a free tool is a fair call. But if buyers cannot tell you apart from competitors using the same templates, the free option is not a saving, it is a cost you pay on every deal you lose to a brand they remembered instead.

What is included in a full branding package?

Most full packages bundle brand strategy (positioning and messaging), visual identity (logo, colour, type), and brand guidelines (a usage document). Some also include a website. Each of those is priced separately in the deliverable table above, so you can see exactly what a bundled quote is charging you for.

Do you charge for a standalone logo?

Not as our own offer. Logo pricing by provider is covered in the tables above so you can see the honest market range wherever you decide to buy one. What we sell starts with direction, positioning and a brand world, in the Brand Clarity Workshop, because a logo with no direction behind it is the decoration we spend our time arguing against.

Do you only work with businesses in Singapore?

We are Singapore-forward and work with brands here and across the region. The problem we solve, being invisible in a category of AI-average look-alikes, is not local.
